Where does your money go?

Have you wondered where the BFC registration fee and weekly subscriptions go once you have paid them? Here is a simple breakdown of the income and expenditure for last year. They give an insight into what goes into running your local football club.

Income

The income to the club for each player comes from a few main sources:

  • Registration £70
  • Match fees are between £50 and £60 depending on the size of the league and success in the cup matches - average £55
  • Social events £25
  • Sponsorship £15 (this year only £2.25 per player received)

Expenditure

So you can see there is about £165 for each player in the club going towards:

  • Pitch hire - we have to pay for Rec grass to be cut and pitch lines to be drawn.
  • Training facilities away from the rec - Broadstone Middle school , QE floodlit pitch in the winter, Corfe Hills etc
  • Kit - Basic kit is provided in the fees (shirt, shorts, socks , jacket)
  • Equipment (balls, nets, net pins, respect markers)
  • Cup and league registration fees
  • Fines (yes, we have to pay if a team cancels a match)
  • Referee's fees
  • Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checking
  • Insurance Public (liability  and personal accident)
  • Postage and phone calls
  • Courses and coach fees (we train those in charge to give quality supervision)
  • Trophies

So the cost for say, 24 matches and 40 training sessions is £105 (just the reg and match fees). That's about £1.65 an hour for the sport, which includes kit!!! Try comparing that to tennis or badminton or squash or 5-a-side. £105 is the cost of a mobile phone. Or 20 films at the cinema. 2 cans of Fanta a week, etc etc

Other teams may charge less registration but more in fees by charging for training and matches (or vice versa), and the players may have to buy their own kit. They will have different sources of sponsorship or fund raising. You would still expect that they have to find about £165 per player in some way or another.

All in all, it is fantastic value!

You can help!

Don't forget you can help raise extra funds for the club to keep the registration low. You can:

  1. Get more sponsorship
  2. Organise social events
  3. Use the club shop
