BROADSTONE FOOTBALL CLUB FOUNDER TEAM REUNION

As part of the celebrations of the Club’s Silver Jubilee, Broadstone FC are endeavouring to hold a reunion of their founder team, Broadstone Boys Under 11’s, which was entered into what was then called the Braytown League in season 1982/83.  The team had a number of successes throughout the time it was together, finishing up as Under 16’s in the Bournemouth Youth League in 1987/88.

A total of 31 players appeared for the side throughout that six year period, and currently the Club is endeavouring to contact every member with a view to getting as many of them as possible to attend a reunion to be held at the Bridge House Hotel at Longham on Saturday 10th November.  The whereabouts of approximately half the players is known, but the Club is currently trying to track down the rest.   A full list of all the players can be found here .  Anyone who knows the whereabouts of any of the players listed whose contact details are not known is asked to contact the reunion organiser, Geoff Hare, on gefhare@aol.com or by telephoning 01202 693082.

Geoff, who used to help run the side, and went on to become the Club’s Secretary and then Chairman, stated “they were an absolutely fantastic bunch of lads, were always a joy to work with, and we can’t wait to get as many of them as possible back together again.”
Since 1982 Broadstone FC has gone from strength to strength, and now boasts a total of 23 teams aged Under 7 through to Under 18 - which includes four girls teams - with a total membership in the region of 350 players.

The Club is also currently running a “Silver Fund” with the aim of collecting the grand sum of £25,000 which will be used to fulfil a number of local development projects for the future benefit of its youth players.  Anyone who thinks they may be able to help swell the coffers, or has any fund-raising ideas, is asked to contact current Club Secretary and Silver Fund chairperson, Sharron Connell, on sharron@connells.fslife.co.uk or on 07872 161213.
